Match Report:- Warwickshire Police RFC 29 vs 28 Coventry Police RFC
Warwickshire Police Win 'Lobley Cup!!!!'

Between 1800hrs - 1930hrs on Tuesday 28th April 2009 a group of work Colleagues came together in memory of a former player and took on the might of Coventry Police RFC at Broadstreet Rugby Club.

It was a very tight affair with the lead changing hands several times throughout the 80 minutes. I'm sorry that this match report will not be as long as normal as im sure I missed allot of the match due playing. The Warwickshire Pack played with strength. grit and determination and ran long and hard at the opposition. It was obvious that Coventry 'DON'T LIKE IT UP EM', and struggled to contain the continuous attacks from the Warwickshire front 8. Good carries from JOY, WHITEHOUSE, HODGETTS, LANG. WYATT and JONES gave the Warwickshire some good possession to work off. DEANS, READER and JAMES gave good support at the break down and did not let Coventry have an easy time at any Rucks or Mauls.

Are now well established partnership of ILIFF and POTTER made some fantastic breaks and both of there kicking games were on song. POTTER guided his pack well and made several breaks at the side of the break down. ILIFF's boot was reliable as ever, weather it be at the post or at the touch line.

As the Bedworth game ATWAL and HEWIT worked with the ball and always made good yardage with all there carries. BRIDGEWATER and CALEY did not get massive amounts of ball but were reliable and defended well.

Final Cawail WONG had the game of his life at full back, he ran with power and strength and was even seen to kick the ball at least 3 times!!!His try saving tackle in the first half lifted the entire team, im sure most of you will agree that I thought the Coventry player was in at the corner. Cawail was an example of why the Warwickshire team won, He did not give up running and tackled and scrapped for everything, even if it appeared that the cause was lost.

I would also like to mention all the subs who did not get a game. Matt STEELE and Dan HARRIS. CARAHER had a few minutes near to end and was not given much opportunity to get into the match.

Warwickshire deserved the victory and as far as im concerned we were not going to be beaten. You are a credit to the team and yourselves, you all deserve a big pat on the back. Well done

Just a little note, I have taken the cup to get engraved, I have noticed that the winners of the 2008/09 Lobley has already been engraved as Coventry Police!!!
